Long term care benefits are paid when you:
- Suffer from a impairment
- Be unable to do two ADLs
- Have Alzheimer's or senile dementia
- Have your doctor certify it is medically necessary
- Satisfy your waiting period
Long term care insurance will not reimburse you for care:
- Given because of a self-inflicted injury
- Given because of war
- Given because of drug abuse
- Given arising from an attempt to commit a crime
- Received outside the United States
- Provided in a government facility
- Provided by a family member, unless professionally licensed
- Not included in your LTC contract
- Over the maximum coverage amount under your policy
